Starbright Dental Southport offers gas sedation dentistry

Does the thought of visiting the dentist make you feel anxious and sick?

Well Starbright Dental in Southport offers happy gas sedation, also known as ‘laughing gas’. A safe, effective sedative that will have you feeling relaxed and calm in no time.

How does gas sedation work?

The dentist will first place a nasal hood over your nose, which will be connected to an Accutron Digital Flowmeter, which will be used to administer the laughing gas.

It takes around 2-3 minutes for the relaxation effects to take control.

You will be awake and be able to breathe normally. You will be aware of your surroundings and also be able to answer the dentist’s questions.

Any injections required will be given after you are sedated by the gas.

The system is completely safe, and your dentist will adjust the percentage of gas you inhale, depending on your state of relaxation.

How does gas sedation make you feel?

The common feelings for laughing gas include:

  • Relaxed
  • Warm
  • Calm
  • Tingling sensation in limbs
  • Floating feeling

Good news is that sedation gas wears off quickly for most people, within 3-5 minutes. This means you will be able to drive, return to work and carry on with your day as usual. However, if you have experienced longer-lasting effects or side effects in the past, you should bring someone else with you to drive you home to rest after your treatment.

If you would like gas sedation, please advise our team at Starbright Dental while booking your next appointment, so we can prepare it for you. For further information on gas sedation and prices or other treatments we offer, please contact us on (07) 2102 7142 or please click here.
